Album Review: “Muse” - Polyphia
“When you write instrumental music, it’s instrumental that you understand one basic tenet of music: keep it interesting or memorable. Scale the Summit and Animals As Leaders are good examples of instrumental bands understanding that excluding a vocalist doesn’t give you a golden ticket to do whatever you want. The basic rules of music still apply. It’s possible to write catchy, groovy, and memorable music without any vocals. Dallas, TX-based group Polyphia not only understands this; they’re writing the textbook, even though they’re average age is 21 (side note: I’m such a slacker).
